About Beverly Center

Southern California's premier luxury fashion destination featuring over 100 designer boutiques across eight levels. Popular with celebrities and located minutes from Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Center is a major eight-story shopping mall located in Los Angeles, California, bounded by Beverly Boulevard, La Cienega Boulevard, 3rd Street, and San Vicente Boulevard. Opened on February 4, 1982, the center was developed by A. Alfred Taubman, Sheldon Gordon, and E. Phillip Lyon. The mall is notable for its unique design, built entirely atop a multi-story parking garage due to the small footprint of the site and its location above the Salt Lake Oil Field.

The mall features over 100 stores and is anchored by Bloomingdale's and Macy's. Historically, the site served as the Beverly Park amusement park before being transformed into a high-end retail destination. The center has undergone several major renovations, including a $500 million makeover starting in 2016 designed by architects Massimiliano Fuksas and Doriana O. Mandrelli, which added a perforated steel facade and increased natural light via new skylights.

Over the years, the Beverly Center has been a prominent fixture in popular culture, appearing in films such as Scenes from a Mall, Volcano, and Selena. It also gained notoriety for housing America's first Hard Rock Cafe and the largest Cineplex multiplex in the US at the time of its opening. Currently owned by Simon Property Group, the mall continues to evolve, recently converting former department store space into a Gold's Gym and Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley.
